We recently visited Maine and then Boston to see old friends. On Sunday, we went to the North End, which is the Little Italy of Boston, to watch the World Cup final of Italy vs. France. It was wild. Police closed the main streets in the area and people flooded local cafe to watch through the front windows.The earliest story about the power of the Internet was that my very first Website post was negative story about another soccer Website that had been running for about a year, but required a fee to see the content. In less that two hours I had received a note from that Webmaster explaining the situation. How the news spread to him so fast was amazing, but we were on the soccer community radar very quickly.

Working closely with US Youth Soccer and the United States National Soccer Team Players Association, youth soccer groups in Eastern Pennsylvania, Northern Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Washington and Alaska have been raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the past 3 years.

NSCD offers a variety of programs that run throughout the year that provide people affected by disabilities a chance to learn about sports -- and a chance to learn more about themselves.
From their Website: The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) began in 1970 as a one-time ski lesson for children with amputations for the Children's Hospital of Denver. Today, the NSCD is one of the largest outdoor therapeutic recreation agencies in the world. Each year, thousands of children and adults with disabilities take to the ski slopes, mountain trails and golf courses to learn more about sports - and themselves. With specially trained staff and its own adaptive equipment lab, the NSCD teaches a variety of winter and summer sports and activities to individuals with almost any physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral diagnosis.

Overall the exhibit hall seemed to be filled with fake grass companies or software analysis tools. However there were some good causes represented, and over the next two weeks I will add some updates about some of the people and organizations that I met at the exhibit hall that are helping people and doing it around the youth soccer movement.
